Currently Channeling – Dolce & Gabbana

Before I get started, let’s take a look at the inspiration for this post:

To drool over some more Dolce check out their page on net-a-porter.

For the rest of us who can’t afford to spend almost $4,000 on a dress covered in Eggplants, here are some tips for pulling off the 50’s Italian-glam look.

Tread with caution. As much as I hate to admit it, I am not Dolce … or Gabbana. This look is hard to pull off and it runs a high risk of looking dated and/or tacky if you do it wrong. Always remember that fit = flattery and that its safer to only take on one or two elements of this look rather than try to go all out.

Below are two outfits by Zara that give you the one-print-head-to-toe look. Zara also provides another alternative with some vegetation-themed printed trousers.

If you’re leaning more towards the vintage style and cut of the fabric, then try the dress from H&M

Feeling a bit more lady like? Check out Dolce & Gabbana’s macrame suit and the H&M alternative for only $30.

I would break up the uniformity a little by adding simple sparkly jewelry (channeling the jeweled buttons seen in the video) with solid black shoes  for evening. For day I love the idea of this look with a woven/straw bag and strappy espadrilles.

And there you have it 🙂

Happy Shopping!
