Over the Summer I bought a pair of huge white studs with gold accents from Kate Spade. Their size made them a statement piece while still being simple and versatile, so I’ve been on the hunt for a silver equivalent ever since. Lucky for me, I stumbled on to Groupon today only to find a pair of $100 2 carat white topaz studs on sale for $9.

Check them out here and snatch them up while you still can!

I’m in full procrastination mode this week, which means my apartment is spotless … but now that I can’t possibly make it any cleaner, I’m starting to feel crafty. Unfortunately I don’t keep craft supplies on me at school, so instead I’ll have to blog about it.

Check out this necklace on BaubleBar and think about how easy it would be to make one yourself! All you need is some chain, a wire and a pair of needle nose pliers (rounded tips will help make the cursive letters). It’s even better than buying in my opinion because you can make it say whatever you want in whatever font you want … and you’ll be saving at least $50. Who doesn’t love a good DIY?

Have a great day!

Some of you may have heard of Klout, the website that tracks your various social media accounts and gives you a score from 0-100 on how influential you are within your network. I joined a little while ago because, let’s face it, I was curious.  To be honest, it didn’t seem like anything special at first.

Then I realized there was a “perks” section. Hmmm. It turns out various companies collaborate with Klout to give away samples of products to users in their targeted demographic. You can claim whatever perks you qualify for and are not obligated to promote the company, etc., although that is obviously ideal for them, since they give away most items to people who hold a certain amount of “influence” over others.

Well it turns out I qualified for a sample of the Essie Fall collection of nail polishes, seen below, and all I had to do was have a score of at least 40 and have “beauty” listed as one of my categories of interest/influence. Check and double check. It says the samples will be here in 2-3 weeks, so let’s see what happens! Who doesn’t love free stuff, right?

Have a great weekend!

So many of you know that we are currently in the middle of New York Fashion Week. And while that usually sparks a week long frenzy of going online to watch the shows, stare at various Instagram accounts, and drool at street style blogs, I never actually considered that I could be at one of the shows … That is until last Friday morning.

I was wondering around my apartment, still half asleep, when my roommate (whose summer internship had taken her into the city for the By Misha runway show) suddenly texted me:

“I just found out I’m allowed to invite friends. Drop everything. Come to NYC.”

It turned out that even if I wanted to I couldn’t make it into New York quickly enough to catch the show, which was beyond disappointing. But in the hour I spent running around trying to pull a Tim Gunn and make-it-work, I was, of course, mostly panicking about my outfit.

What, I repeat, WHAT was I going to wear to my very first runway show at New York Fashion Week?! Something black would be the obvious go-to. Should I wear the strapless romper or the mini T shirt dress? What shoes? I can barely keep it together in heels … let alone on the streets of New York; would flats be acceptable? And the accessories … Oy vey. Thank god I had just done my laundry or I would have been extra screwed.

Anyway, my point is that you should always have something stylish and easy that can be put together on a moments notice. The ideal would be a glass case with a small collection from Bergdorf’s that you can break open with an axe on a moments notice. But, since that’s not probable for those of us on a budget, you can just take some inspiration from the street style pictures below (shot by Phil Oh for Vogue) and start constructing outfits. We might not all have a closet full of Balenciaga and Givenchy, but we can certainly throw a collar necklace over a slouchy sweater or pair a basic tank with an A-line skirt and some ankle boots!

I. Am. Obsessed.

This Z Spoke by Zac Posen bag is perfect for Fall.

Let’s just ignore the fact that it’s a Merlot shoulder bag, which means that thanks to its simple design, it’s already pulling off two trends at once.

The absolute best part (and the number one reason why I love it) is the embossment. In a world where snake is the scale of choice for prints and embossments, lizard gives a luxurious feel and also makes the bag unique. Just pair with your other Fall jewel tones, or let it be the pop of color in a black and white ensemble.… and did I mention it’s 50% off?

Have a great day!

Apologies for posting few and far between lately, but I have officially moved in to my first apartment and started my senior year of college, which means I have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off trying to go to class, work, decorate, learn to cook, etc.  But now that a week has passed and I’ve started to master my independent activities of daily living, I finally have time to post about (what else) back to school shopping.

WhoWhatWear recently posted a video with their top ten trends for Fall; they are as follows:

1. Bordeaux Leather

2. Duo-tone

3. Neo-goth

4. Asian Flare

5. ’70s Prints

6. Baroque

7. Bejeweled

8. Sci-fi

9. Pantsuits

10. Military

And now for the video:

This may seem like an intimidating and wide spread list, but they actually do a great job styling each look and using pieces that are versatile, and that you may already have (like the pleated skirt that has been going long and strong for a couple seasons now).

Now, I’m definitely not suggesting you go out and buy a kimono and a pair of galaxy leggings. That would be a little ridiculous. But picking a few of the trends that you like and/or buying pieces that are more subtle and useful (and therefore more versatile – check out this Zara jacquard jacket) will definitely give your wardrobe the kick it needs to transition in to Fall.

Happy Tuesday!

P.S. – Check out the shopping guide for this video, there are a few pieces that are from affordable brands like H&M!
